Since the first Alexandria’s Nature Camp in 2011, 2,609 children have attended camp at Howell Nature Center (HNC). What started as one camp with 26 students has grown to 3 different Nature Camps. Alexandria’s Nature Camp allows campers, entering 3rd – 5th grades, to gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the natural world with plenty of opportunities to try new adventures. Campers enjoy the many special nature and wildlife focused activities designed exclusively for this camp, as well as many classic camp activities that build confidence and life skills.
Calling all Alexandria’s Nature Camp Alumni! Nature campers, entering 4th – 6th grades, are invited to return for many of their favorite traditional camp activities, while continuing to deepen their knowledge and passion for the natural world. Children will reconnect with old friends and make new ones, all while experiencing an array of new adventures and enjoying our progressive nature-based programming at the Howell Nature Center.
“Nature Nuts” will love this camp! Get hands-on experiences alongside Howell Nature Center’s most experienced naturalists. The Naturalist in Training program is for students entering the 7th & 8th grades; combines the wonders of wildlife education and zoology with the fascinating aspects of ecology, all while learning the concepts of conservation.

My children Brady (8) and Alaine (10) attended your wonderful camp. Almost a week later and they are still sharing memories about all the fun they had. This type of experience would normally be something too expensive for my kids to have the chance to appreciate. We have five children so I don’t have enough words to let you know how blessed we are to receive your generous gift. Alexandria, was truly a special girl to generate so many positive things. I will pray for her amazing spirit as well as your whole family. This camp has created a true bright spot in my children’s childhood memories. They will cherish this experience their whole lives and who knows how many wonderful ways they will be inspired. The camp was organized and the counselors were amazing. To top it off the kids loved the FOOD!

My daughters were blessed by your family. Thank you for providing my daughters a chance to participate at Howell Conference Center for the week of July 21-25, 2014 with the scholarship program you offered. My girls will have been changed forever because of your gift. They will have been given experiences of life that they will cherish and remember forever. I am so very sorry for the loss of a daughter but so very thankful that you have both found a way to honor her by blessing so many others with her spirit. You are both truly amazing for your generosity. I very much enjoy the interactive playground you have also created at Howell Nature Center. My 3 children have all played endlessly there coming home needing baths. Evidence it was a true experience of joy. Our family looks forward to your tree house in honor of your daughter. Your scholarships, playground, soon to be tree house are a true gift to so many families and children and I want to tell you how very thankful I am.
